Program Requirements

As a Books as Bridges US teacher, are you willing to:

  1. Complete both a mid-year report and an end-of-the-year survey to help improve Books as Bridges as a program? Yes No

  1. Send at least 2 packages/envelopes of letters and 2 “culture packages,” depicting life in your community to your partner classroom, so long as you have received at least one package in return? Yes No

  1. Initiate and help your students succeed in a Books as Bridges service-learning project? Yes No

  1. Work within the best of your ability to further cross-cultural dialogue and communication between your classroom and your assigned classroom abroad? Yes No

**Please Note: Because we work with classrooms in developing countries, it is possible that your partner organization will not be able to respond in a timely manner, if at all. Though we work to screen out potentially unresponsive international partners, it is important for US teachers to understand these circumstances. In the event that you receive no response from your pen-pals, Books as Bridges will provide you with the name and contact information of a new international partner.
